Marutzzella Castro is a paralegal manager at Fish & Tsang LLP where she manages the firm’s intellectual property paralegals as they support attorneys in foreign and domestic matters related to patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and PTAB and TTAB proceedings. Her responsibilities include portfolio management across a wide range of disciplines, including pharmaceuticals, biotech and telecommunications. She regularly participates in patent audits and pre-issue review and assists in negotiation of licensing and technology transfer agreements.

Education and Professional Experience
Marutzzella received her bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of San Francisco and holds a graduate level certificate in healthcare informatics, for which she was awarded an Up-Hi Scholarship from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In her role at F&T, she leverages more than 20 years of legal experience, including over 15 years in intellectual property. Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Marutzzella worked at a boutique IP law firm as well as in-house with leading pharmaceutical companies Pfizer Global R&D, Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Xencor. She also worked with patents for tech giant Qualcomm in the company’s central filing group.
Marutzzella is a registered notary public, an as-needed service provided to F&T clients.
Outside of the office, Marutzzella enjoys watching soccer, camping, taking wildlife photos, horseback riding and spending time outdoors with her twin daughters.
